Plateau: DCO’s body recovered, 2 policemen arrested for gunrunning

AS normalcy returns to the troubled Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau State, the body of the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) DSP Talfa Wuyep declared missing during the crisis in the council has been found while the police in the state have equally arrested two of its men for gunrunning.
The late DSP Wuyep who was an indigene of the troubled area was on assignment on the day the suspected Fulani attackers struck  and nobody could trace his whereabouts until his body was found  in Karkashi village by some security on patrol of the area.
Addressing newsmen in Jos, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chris Olakpe who confirmed recovery of the body said there were  gunshot wound and machete cuts all over the body which was identified by the uniform he wore.
The state Commissioner of Police further disclosed that two policemen attached to the command  have been arrested in Jos for selling arms and ammunition to criminals, adding that the two had been tried and dismissed from the force.
He identified the dismissed  policemen as Constable Emmanuel Dakol and Cpl Joseph Dakup.  He said, “The policemen that were arrested were dismissed from the force 24 hours ago. They were tried and found guilty of selling guns to dangerous elements in the society. They will be made to face the music.”
The commissioner who  said that the total death toll in the clashes that occurred in Langtang South was 31 while 13 others were injured adding that some high profile suspects have been arrested  in connection with the killings, but could not disclose their names or numbers for security reasons.
