400 policemen demand promotion six years after exam

About 400 cadet inspectors in Kwara State yesterday appealed to the Inspector-General of Police (IG), Idris Ibrahim, to look into why they were yet to be promoted sis years after sitting for promotional examinations.

Some of the policemen, who visited offices of some national newspapers on the Murtala Mohammed Way, Ilorin, also urged the Police Service Commission (PSC) to look into their plight.
Spokesman for the cadet inspectors, Mr. Samuel Oladeji, said those affected spread across Ondo, Kwara, Kogi, Edo and Cross River states. Oladeji explained that they were yet to be promoted after their 2009/2010 promotional examination conducted by the police.
He said one of the affected policemen died of hypertension recently, while four others were lying critically ill in different hospitals.
While appealing for urgent action on the promotion process, Oladeji said that a signal should be sent to the affected officers stating when they would be promoted to alleviate their pains.
He said: “Regrettably, most recently, we have lost a seasoned promising young officer whom was diagnosed with hypertension.
The late officer served last in Kaduna State Command. “As at now, four others are seriously ill and are on their sick beds.
We do not want to lose them, because hypertension is a silent killer. And what shall it profit the PSC not to promote us after being duly recommended? “Justice delayed is justice denied.
Sir, if it takes the Nigeria Police Force months just to investigate matters related to promotion within the NPF, how many years will it take the organisation to conclude an investigation on a heinous crime?”https://newtelegraphonline.com/400-policemen-demand-promotion-six-years-exam/
