The South South Zonal head of the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ishaq Salihu said the Commission was ready to partner
with telecommunication giant, MTN in the
fight against economic and financial crimes in the country.
Salihu stated this
today, October 7, 2016 when he received
some senior officers of the telecommunication company who paid a courtesy visit
to the Commission’s zonal office in Port Harcourt.
The South South zonal head said partnering
with the telecommunication company in the fight against money laundering and
other forms of economic and financial crimes was vital to the development of
the country.
According to him, such
partnership will help reduce capital flight and restore Nigeria’s
integrity. However, Salihu warned that
the organization must operate within the ambit of the law and fish out moles
within it ranks as the EFCC led by the Acting Executive Chairman, Ibrahim Magu will not spare anyone if caught on the wrong
side of the law. “The Acting Executive chairman, Ibrahim Magu, is a no nonsense
man. He will not condone anybody or organistaion on the wrong side of the law,”
he said.
The company officials led by Asamine
Anueyiagu, Senior Manager Customer Care
said they were ready to share information with the Commission whenever the need
arises. Dominic Ughanze, Regional Security Manager, South South/South Eastern
Region of the MTN in his remarks commended the EFCC for its efforts in the
fight against corruption and said the organization was delighted to partner
with EFCC. The same view was shared by
Cynthia Aroghan, Regional Manager, Enterprise Business, South South/ South
Eastern Region who also assured the
Commission of their total support .
