Establish Mobile barracks at Ishawo –Akiolu

Officials of the Inspector General of Police (IG) Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT) have shot dead one of the militants cum kidnappers, Endurance Ominisan aka Mighty, who killed an Army captain at a community in Ikorodu area of Lagos.
On April 9, Mighty and his gang members shot dead Captain Mohammed, a soldier and four policemen at Ishawo in Ikorodu. The soldiers and policemen were responding to a distress call on the abduction of some landlords in the area when they ran into the ambush.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Owutu Police Division was also shot in the buttocks the moment he and the captain stepped down from an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC).
But on Sunday, after several days of intensive follow up by IRT teams deployed to Lagos State by the IG, Ibrahim Idris, to trace and bring to justice the notorious militants/kidnappers responsible for the murder of policemen and soldiers in Ikorodu. A police source said Mighty, a native of Arogbo in Ondo State, came out from the creek to visit his girlfriend in a house he rented for her at 20, Joel Adebolu Street, Ibeshe area Ikorodu.
“The IRT teams immediately swooped on him and surrounded the house. On sighting the Special IRT teams, the kidnapper escaped to the roof of the house from where he fired several shots with his pistol on the IRT teams who swiftly returned fire and fatally wounded the kidnapper. “The injured kidnapper was eventually brought down from the roof of the house and rushed to the Ikorodu General Hospital where he later died,” the source said. According to the source, Mighty listed members of his gang who partook in the attack on Captain Mohammed and others.
“Mighty mentioned America, Stone, Vika, etc as his gang members who participated in the killing of the policemen and soldiers. He also confessed to the kidnapping of the Oniba of Iba, Oba Goriola Oseni, Turkish School girls’ abduction and many other kidnappings in Lagos and Ogun states before he died. “One Turkish-made Fatih 13 pistol with serial number 12TF00126 with four expended and five live ammunition were recovered from him,” the source added.
Meanwhile, the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwanu Akiolu, has called on the Federal Government to establish Police Mobile Force (PMF) and military barracks at Ishawo and other coastal communities ravaged by militants. Akiolu made the call when  the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of Information and Communication, Foluso Adebanjo, visited his palace at Iga-Iduganran at Isale-Eko (Lagos Island) yesterday.
Supporting the ongoing demolish of shanties being carried out by government, Akiolu said PMF and military barracks should be established in all the waterfronts to check criminalities. He urged government to give the security agencies all needed logistics to execute their jobs, insisting that without finances, not much could be achieved.
He said: “As I sit in my palace, I get intelligence report from across the country. So, the Inspector General of Police should liaise with other security agencies to establish a Mobile base and military base at Ishawo, Ikorodu axis. Also, all those shanties at all riverine areas around Lagos State should also be demolished.”
Earlier, Adebanjo said he was in Lagos because the IG, Idris, had sent all DIGs to their respective zones to meet with critical stakeholders for enhanced security. The DIG, who met with police officers and men at the state Police Command Headquarters, warned them to shun indiscriminate shooting.
While noting that every illegal killing must be addressed, Adebanjo said that any policeman, who killed an innocent person, must be dismissed and prosecuted within 48 hours. Adebanjo also warned the personnel to ensure that except for heinous offences such as murder, armed robbery and kidnapping, no suspect should be detained for more than 24 hours. At the event were the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Zone II, Ibrahim Adamu, Lagos State Police Commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), Titilayo Kayode and Bolaji Salami, among others.https://newtelegraphonline.com/metro/army-captains-killer-shot-dead-lagos/
