I can steal anything, boasts pickpocket suspect

Skippo
A suspect, who specialised in picking pockets of unsuspecting Nigerians, has boasted to the police that he was highly intelligent when it comes to stealing.

The suspect, Dayo Skippo, was arrested by the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) at Ikeja- under Bridge at the weekend.
Skippo bragged: “I’m expert in stealing! I have been stealing for long. I have been in the business for long. It’s, however, tough economic situation that pushed me into crime.”
The suspect, who is a secondary school dropout, confessed that all he needed was to have the slightest physical contact with his victim and immediately their valuables would be picked.
Disclosing his modus operandi, he said: “I can remove anything from anyone’s possession. I’ll pretend as if I knew the person somewhere, and in the process of greeting him, the person’s item would be gone.
“I don’t operate alone. I work with some of my gang members just in case the person robbed becomes suspicious. My gang members would quickly swing into action and escape with the stolen items.”
One of the suspect’s victims, who refused to mention his name, explained: “I went to Computer Village in Ikeja to see my friend when my IPhone was stolen. I was on my way to the bus stop when someone came and hugged me from behind. He later apologized to me after I told him I didn’t know him. Before I could look around again, I discovered my phone was gone.
“I went back to my friend’s shop almost immediately to track my iPhone and the location; what surprised me was that my phone was already in Lagos Island.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Olarinde Famous- Cole, said that there would be no hiding place for criminals in the state.
Famous- Cole, however, said the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department SCID, Panti for further investigations.
