The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, said: "Some of these suspects have been arrested before. They had been arraigned in courts. They were given opportunity of bail in accordance with the rule of law. Rather than leave crime, they continued, troubling law abiding citizens. We have situation, whereby a suspect had been arrested twice for robbery.”
He suspect, who confessed to being a bus conductor, working at Ikotun, confessed to have met a friend, who tricked him to Governor’s Road, where the robbery was carried out. He said he didn’t know that his friend was going for a robbery operation with other men. He further explained that he met his friend at a drinking joint, located at Ikotun round-about.
He said: “We went to drink on Sunday. On Monday, he begged me to escort him to Governor’s road. He was with some other guys.  I didn’t know the location was for robbery operation. He said: “I’m not a robber. When I saw policemen coming, I didn’t run because I knew I wasn’t a robber.”
