ABUJA explosion not caused by explosive —SSS
THE Department of State Security Service (SSS), on Tuesday, said the early morning explosion that occurred at the EFAB Estate, Lokogoman, Abuja, was from a washing machine and not an explosive as rumoured, adding that no life was lost in the incident.
Spokesperson of the service, Marilyn Ogar, told the Nigerian Tribune in Bwarin, Abuja, that investigation had revealed that the explosion occurred in early hours of the day at a dry cleaning shop.
According to her, “the explosion at Lokogoma this morning was not an explosive, it was an explosion from a dry cleaning shop.
“We learnt that the washing machine was used round the clock and in the early hours of the day, its water dried up and the machine exploded.”
She said no life was lost in the incident while urging residents to go about their normal daily activities without any fear.
When the Nigerian Tribune visited the scene of the incident on Tuesday, it was observed the walls of the affected shop had crumbled.
