Afenifere charges Jonathan on insecurity

THE Pan Yoruba socio-political group,  Afenifere, on Wednesday, charged President Goodluck Jonathan to take decisive action on the state of insecurity and the wanton destruction of life and property in the country.
The organisation challenged the president to act as the Commander-in- Chief of Armed Forces and not as a lame duck president by his various reactions to insecurity in the country.
The  Secretary General of Afenifere, Chief Seinde Arogbofa, in Akure, Ondo State, said the insecurity situation in the country was assuming a more dangerous dimension.
According to him, the rate at which kidnappers abducted prominent Nigerians and the activities of the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram had exposed Nigerians to dangers.
He lamented that the developments had not only put the lives of people at risk, but also scared away prospective investors.
While Boko Haram had continued with attacks on religious and public places in the northern part of the country, kidnappers in the South had abducted the mother of the Minister of Finance, Dr (Mrs) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and the wife of former governor of Western Region, General Oluwole Rotimi (retd).
Arogbofa, however, said the situation in the country had demanded that the president acted as the Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces and not as a lame duck president.
The Afenifere’s scribe also alleged conspiracy among the criminals and some security agencies in the country.
