MINISTER of Science and Technology, Professor Ita Ewa, has reinstated a senior director at the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Professor Christian O. Nwajagu, at the Scientific Equipment Development Institute (SEDI), Enugu.
The reinstatement order was contained in a letter the minister delivered to Professor Nwajagu through the acting Director-General of NASENI at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja recently.
It will be recalled that Professor Nwajagu and three other senior directors of various institutes under the agency were redeployed to the headquarters in a restructuring carried out by former Director General, Professor Olusegun Adewoye.
The restructuring generated serious controversies that the National Assembly and the Presidency, through the Ministry of Labour, waded in.
Speaking to our correspondent, Professor Nwajagu, who confirmed the development said, he collected his letter of reinstatement, signed by the minister, from the acting Director General, Dr Haruna, at the headquarters, and he had resumed work in Enugu.
Meanwhile, a senior director NASEBI Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Dr Stephen O. Momoh, who was alleged to be collecting pension benefits from two government agencies, has been cleared of wrongdoings by the National Pension Commission (PenCom).
In a response to a letter written by Dr Momoh requesting for clarification on the matter, PenCom exonerated the director of contravening the constitution and the Pension Act.
Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune in Abuja, Dr Momoh said when the allegation of receiving pensionable benefits as of the time of leaving Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and thereafter was baseless and without any merit, as the allegations was oming in a bid to discredit him, because all through his years of service, he had never been found wanting.
