Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad(SARS),
Ikeja, Lagos State Police Command have arrested gunmen who killed Daily
Newswatch Deputy Editor, Mr.Toyin Obadina.
Obadina was killed February, 1, 2014, around
Ikorodu, on his way home from the office.
A police source guns were recovered from the
suspects. The same guns used in killing the journalist.
The arrest of
the bandits started on October,
18, 2014, on a follow up to the robbery and murder of the deceased.
Babatunde Makinde, 25, Sunday Samuel, 22 and Ibrahim
Adeokin, 22 were the suspects held in
connection with the robbery and murder of Obadina.
A police source said: “They were arrested by SARS in
Ikorodu area and they confessed to the crime. Two gang members, one Oke whom
the suspects claimed pulled the trigger that killed Obadina and one Benjamin
were gunned down by SARS during another robbery in Mile12 area in July this
year. Two more gang members, Ola Sheu and Omo Alhaja are still at large. Two locally
made pistols and one Nissan Xterra Jeep, marked AKD380AA robbed from one Segun
were recovered.”
The suspects would be presented to journalists
tomorrow Tuesday at 9am for interaction at Police Headquarters Ikeja.
