Court clears Saraki of fraud in bank loan deal

Saraki
The Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja, yesterday cleared Chairman, Senate Committee on the Environment, Senator Bukola Saraki, of any wrongdoing in a bank loan being investigated by the Police Special Fraud Unit since 2012.

The clearance was sequel to a legal opinion by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice that the allegations of wrongdoing against him were baseless and unfounded.
The legal opinion of the minister was a response to the report submitted to him by the Inspector General of Police on police findings in a complain by Joy Petroleum Limited. Delivering judgement in a case of enforcement of fundamental human rights filed by Saraki against the police, Justice A.R Mohammed stopped the Inspector General of Police (IGP) from inviting or arresting him over the matter.
