A 70-year-old woman, Moninola Lateef, her 35-year-old son, Modiu, and
seven others have been arrested for armed robbery and kidnapping in
Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
Lateef, Modiu and two others were
apprehended on Tuesday for robbery.
The remaining five suspects were for allegedly abducting a man who
just returned to the country from abroad.
The suspects were paraded
yesterday at the office of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) at
Magbon, Abeokuta. Briefing journalists, the state Police Public
Relations Officer (PPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi, disclosed that the
septuagenarian was arrested for allegedly taking his son to a herbalist
to extract bullets lodged in his body when he was shot during a robbery
operation. Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, gave the names of
other members of the robbery gang as Wale Okukenu, 30, and Fatai Osho,
