Tricycle riders demand killer ASP’s arrest

The Vice-Chairman of the Tricycle Riders’ Association, Karimu Laka area of Egbeda, Lagos State, Mr Rasak Ejombelorun, has called on the police to take immediate steps to arrest an officer who shot and killed a tricycle rider.

The police officer, identified simply as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammed, reportedly murdered the tricycle rider, Aranse Akeem, at Egbeda Akowonjo. This was even as the landlord of the house where the ASP lives said the officer had not been seen since the incident. Ejombelorun said that information gathered from the landlord showed that the killer cop had absconded.
It was, however, gathered that the police have discovered the identity of the ASP, thanks to the two commercial motorcyclists apprehended by tricycle riders at Karimu Laka and handed over to the police.
Ejombelorun said: “Our chairman has gone to the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, to know how far the case had gone. Our member, Basa Paul, who witnessed the shooting and killing of Akeem, went to Panti with our chairman.
“We are even tired of the way policemen used to storm our branch every day before the murder of Akeem. They used to come and collect money from us every day.
