Detectives rescue victim from ritual killers in Lagos



 Detectives attached to the Area K Police Command, Badagry, Lagos State, have rescued a female suspect from two alleged ritual killers.


The suspects, Sarafu Yakubu 25, who hails from Ove Community in Magbon and Fatai Muritado 40, of Tologbo area, Magbon, all in Badagry, were arrested in the wee hours of Wednesday at Oble Community by a crack team of police operatives from Area 'K' Police Command led by the Area Commander, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Hope Okafor.

According to a source, the suspects were on the verge of sacrificing their victim, after taking turns in raping her when policemen surprised them.

The source further said: “The policemen rushed to the scene after the area commander received a distress call from a resident who heard the screams of the victim. The area commander quickly gathered a handful of policemen and dashed to the scene. The area commander and her men caught and arrested the suspects.”

The two suspects, presently in police custody at Area 'K' Police Command, were alleged to have confessed to being kidnappers. They also confessed to have abducted their victim at Ibadan, Oyo State on September 4 and later moved her to Lagos.

Angry residents in the area attempted were said to have attempted to snatch the suspects from policemen in order to lynch them. But the policemen resisted and whisked the suspects to their office.

A police source, who confirmed that investigation was ongoing, said that preliminary investigations revealed that the two suspects were not the only members of the gang. Thus, policemen are presently using information gathered from the two suspects in the hunt for other members of the gang.

When Okafor was contacted on the matter, she refused to comment, insisting that our correspondent must go to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olarinde Famous-Cole for information on the matter.
