The alleged kidnapper who tried to bolt away was captured, beaten and threatened to be killed by residents in the area when the Nigerian Tribune got to the scene of the incident.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that the alleged kidnapper had accosted the old woman who was preparing for church service in the presence of her grandson, asking her to follow him. The woman’s resistance aroused the anger of the kidnapper, just as he tortured and sprayed perfume on her.
Nigerian Tribune also learnt that a neighbour, who noticed the incident from the other end, rushed to the scene to stop the alleged kidnapper from torturing the old woman as well as to prevent him from escaping.

The old woman told the Nigerian Tribune that: “I don’t know him and I have never seen him before. I was about to leave for morning mass when he approached me. He said all sorts, but since I don’t recognise him, I refused to give him attention. He sprayed perfume on me and beat me with a branch of a tree.”
The aged woman’s grandson, Gbenga, told the Nigerian Tribune that “the incident occurred 6a.m. on Sunday morning. I thought grandma knew the man, but she told me she did not. I tried to stop him from beating her. He then attempted to run away when he noticed that nemesis had catched up with him.”
The alleged kidnapper, when asked what prompted his action, told the Nigerian Tribune that, “I have no reason to kidnap mama; I have known her for a very long time. I misbehaved because I was coming from a club and very drunk.”
The alleged kidnapper has been arrested by the police for further interrogation.
