Baby factory: General Overseer’s wife regroups, petitions IGP

Dr. Chinyere Emeka Precious, owner of God’s Gift Maternity and wife of a popular General Overseer church located in Elelenwo Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has regrouped after police missed arresting her and now battle ready to confront the police.
Precious, who is believed to be a medical doctor and pastor has launched a fresh battle against the police in Elelenwo over the “invasion” of her home and hospital.

Precious petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, condemning the damage done to her home and hospital, insisting that the Inspector General of Police should raise a team to properly investigate the policemen who stormed her hospital and home.

It will be recalled that a few weeks ago, two groups of policemen clashed over Mrs. Precious, to the extent that they were ready to shoot and kill one another.

The first set of policemen comprised of operatives of the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Lagos State and men of Rivers State Police Command.  The second team, which was protecting the woman, described as chief suspect in many baby selling syndicates in Nigeria, were policemen from the Special Protection Unit
Precious was alleged to be selling babies to rich society women for prices ranging from N2.5 million to N6 million. While the drama lasted, Precious was said to have disappeared to USA.
The attempt to arrest the woman started after petitions from the United States of America Consulate.
Police alleged that Precious was linked to many of the botched child traffic plans, uncovered by embassies of foreign countries in Nigeria.

She was arrested, paraded and tried last year over allegations of running a baby factory, but was later discharged and acquitted by a Port Harcourt High Court for want of evidence after the police withdrew the charges against her.
The withdrawal of the charges against her came after the policemen who invaded her home late last year had been arrested and tried by the police authorities and were disciplined for their action, which was found to be unlawful.
The petition to the IGP, Suleiman Abba, was written by her lawyer, Emeka Alo.
Police at SFU admitted receiving a petition from the woman’s lawyer, but added that the petition was vague and did not mention issues relating to baby factory racket, which they were interested in.

A police detective added: “We’re waiting for any invitation from any quarters on this case. The woman has links and connections with wives of society men, police, soldiers and navy. She always uses those connections. In fact, we’ve located where she’s in USA, but there international protocols to observe.”

The petition from her lawyer, reads in part: “The culprits conspired and without any justification invaded our client’s hospital and dwelling house at Elelenwo, Port Harcourt and with explosive and not one of police instrument maliciously damaged both the components of the hospital building and the dwelling House of our client for no justification reason.
“The crux of the matter as narrated by our client is that the 1st culprit (Madam Christi Omagu) of Port Harcourt gave birth to a baby boy after some antenatal care which up to the time of this petition she is still owing the hospital, but that because she had DNA test negating the status of the child, the second culprit conspired with others invaded our client’s hospital and home and demanded for return of the money she paid.
“Our client told us that she was not on notice of such spurious demand but that the D.P.O Elelenwo who had boasted to kill our client capitalized on the demand led the operation ransacked our client’s apartment removed some personal items without search warrant.”
“We are instructed to raise this petition before you because the culprits acted outside the known conventional practice of police covered by Police Act and Regulation.
“Our client is being pursued like Boko Haram member by D.P.O Elelenwo and conjunction; the culprits have employed the explosive mechanism meant for Boko Haram insurgency on our client for no justifiable reason.
“Our client is not a Boko Haram member and does not constitute security risk as to be pursued like common criminal. Our client is right now hiding from being killed by the culprits for no justifiable reason.”
A letter from the office of the IGP showed that Abba has already ordered an investigation into the matter.
The letter directed the DIG in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department to probe into the matter.”
