An unemployed young man, Taiwo Akindele, has been offered an automatic
employment by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State. Akindele, who hails from
Ekiti Local Government Area of the state, was employed by the Kwara State Road
Traffic Management Agency (KWARTMA).
The man had been carrying out voluntary traffic control at Lajorin/Town Planning Junction and Offa Road/Flower Garden Junction in Ilorin, the state capital before he was offered the employment.
The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Abdulwahab Oba, said in statement said that Akindele caught the attention of the governor yesterday on Offa Road- Flower Garden Junction.
Apparently impressed by Akindele’s patriotic zeal, Ahmed, who was coming from unscheduled visits to Ministries and Departments and Agencies (MDA), halted his convoy to watch the young man in action before directing the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Dr Abubakar Kannike, to ensure that KWATMA offered the man immediate employment and N100,000 in appreciation of his efforts.
“This is the kind of positive disposition we expect from our youths in Kwara State. Our youths must display leadership qualities in all ramifications and instances without expecting rewards.
“However, such efforts can never go unappreciated as somebody somewhere is definitely watching,” the governor was quoted as saying. Overwhelmed by the gesture, Akindele praised the governor for his people-friendly policies.
