Panic as police rescue ‘baby cat’ from crowd

There was confusion and panic at the Adekunle Police Station yesterday, after a crowd gathered, intending to attack a one-year-old toddler believed to have turned from cat into a baby.

Some members of the crowd, described the baby as, ‘demonic.’
One of them gasped: “It was a cat we saw running into the police station. We saw policemen attempting to kill the cat, but it suddenly turned into a baby boy!”

A woman said: “The face looked like a year-old-baby, but with wrinkled skin like that of old person.”

The incident which occurred at about 9am, further attracted more people until police have to brace up and even radio for re-enforcement.

A policeman said: “If not for the police, we don’t know what they would have done to the mother and baby.”

While a good number of the people insisted they said the cat turned to baby, others said they saw the crowd and joined in watching and listening to what was going on.

Another policeman attached to Adekunle Police Station said:  “The boy was crawling and crying. The noise of his cries, sounded like a cat mewling. I guess that was the sound that attracted passersby. Before we knew it, many of them started screaming and calling others attention to the scene. They said the boy was truly a cat.”

Attempting to calm the scene, the police handed the baby boy his mother, who allegedly appeared from nowhere to claim him.

A shop owner, close to the scene said:  “The cat was found under the table of one of the officers at the police station. The policemen were trying to kill the cat when it turned into a baby.”
A police source said: “We find out that the baby was dropped by the roadside, by his mother. The woman told us that went to get him food to eat, but before she returned, the baby has crawled away, leading to her searching for him.”
