Three suspected fraudsters are currently in police net for allegedly hypnotising their victims and stealing their belongings at the Ibara area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.
It was learnt that the suspects ─ Olabode Toyese, Abayomi Odeleye and Kazeem Adeyemo ─ were arrested by detectives attached to the Ibara division of the Ogun State Police Command after a woman, who had been duped by them , reported her ordeals at the station.
The state command’s spokesman, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the suspects had collected some amount of money and valuables from the woman and many other victims.
He explained that the suspects usually made use of different commercial taxis painted in Ogun State colour for their operations.

He said, “They look for passengers and lure them into discussions on attractive, but dubious businesses which will eventually make any unsuspecting passenger to join the discussion. They will eventually hypnotise their victims and dupe them.
“They have been in the business for a very long time. The kingpin of the gang confessed that he used to operate in Lagos before he moved to Abeokuta.”
He said the suspects had confessed to duping the woman that reported them to the police, adding that they also owned up to many other unresolved crimes in the state.
Adejobi said the men were still being held and assisting the command in its investigation.
He added that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye, had urged the people of the state to be cautious of those who might bring unusually enticing business proposals to them, adding that they would end up duping them.
Adejobi said the commissioner had directed that a thorough investigation be made into the case, while other crimes that the men had confessed to be resolved.
