Ritual killings allegation:Governor summons Oba


Ogun State Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun on Tuesday summoned Oba Matthew Ajibulu 'Olu of Onigbedu' over allegations of ritual killing and illegal conducts by his community residents.

The Governor gave the directive when villagers from Onigbedu community in Ewekoro Local Government staged a protest to his office and State House of Assembly.
Leading the protesters Onigbedu CDA Chairman, Lukman Adebare Kazeem said the community wants the state government to check the excesses of the monarch.


"We have decided to inform everyone of what we are facing our Oba has incurred problem to the community, inflicted hardship to us, dislodged our relationship with other neighboring towns and investors.
"He also went ahead various ritual activities and building of Oro shrine in the center of the community after the CDA has kicked against”.
"Onigbedu community wants the government to be aware and rescue us" Kazeem stated.

Another protester, Adetola Isiwatu said Oba Ajibulu was imposed on the community by the former administration of Governor Gbenga Daniel; the community was ready to partner with him for peace to reign.
"It’s on record that Former Governor Daniel imposed Ajibulu on us, he promised us a peaceful reign but he changed to be mischievous later. He now threatens everyone in the community and intimidates the chiefs and Baales."
She further said the community is tired of all this operations and want the state government to intervene.
Responding on behalf of Governor Amosun, who was heading to a crucial meeting, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Muyiwa Oladipo commended the protesters for their peaceful conduct.

Oladipo said the government is concern about happenings in the rural areas of the state.
"  I must commend the way the rally is conducted peacefully. We urge you to remain law abiding citizens which you have demonstrated with you can be."
He said the government will immediately step into the crisis to ensure the safety of its people.
"On your grievance which you have shown, be rest assured Oba Ajibulu will be called upon to the governor’s office tomorrow (Tuesday) morning and we will also hear his own side of the story. And we assure you we will sort it out amicably.

He however immediately directed the Director for Chieftaincy affairs of the ministry to invite Oba Ajibulu to the governor's office by 9am tomorrow.
Receiving the protesters at the State House of Assembly, Clark of the house, Mr. Muyiwa Adelopo said the lawmakers will deliberate on their grievances when they return from its recess.
Adelopo however encouraged the protesters to be civil and peaceful for the growth of the community and state in general.
