Police to arraign suspects over election disturbance

The Lagos State Police Command yesterday that it would soon charge the nine suspects, arrested during the presidential election in the state to court.

The nine suspects, who were arrested in different of the metropolis, were held for attempted to disrupt the election.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Kenneth Nwosu, said: “We have nine persons arrested for disrupting the election and we are looking into their cases and they will be charged to court.
“In the course of the hitch-free general election, we had minimal number of arrest, probably the lowest in the federation which is because of the security measures we were able to put in place,’’ he said. While ensuring Lagos residents of a crime free governorship election, Nwosu said that during the presidential election, the state recorded a great success. Explaining that sister agencies would as usual work with the police to ensure a successful polls on Saturday, Nwosu said: “ Our sister agencies are willing to partner with us just like they did during Presidential and National Assembly elections to ensure a crime free Governorship House of Assembly elections.’’
