Ibrahim Mustafa Magu, acting Chairman, Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission, EFCC, has reiterated the Commission’s resolve to
vigorously enforce its mandate alongside preventive initiatives with a view to
effectively tackle corruption in Nigeria.
"Prevention is an effective and necessary weapon that must be
employed in conjunction with enforcement and there is no group of Nigerians
better equipped to wield that weapon than the youths", Magu said.
The EFCC boss stated this during the unveiling of the EFCC
Creative Youths Initiative against Corruption, CYIAC, held at Denis Hotel,
Abuja on Tuesday, October 4, 2016.
He identified the role of the youths as strategic to winning
the war against graft saying, “we cannot afford to let the youths down".
Explaining the project, the Project Director, Foluke Micheal said
the idea was conceived out of the need to give children a platform to express
themselves.
"The project is designed to nip the tree of corruption at the
bud by catching them young. The children are taught to recognise, reject and
condemn corruption. This is done through education and creative
development", Michael said.
She also commended the passion of the EFCC acting chair in the
fight against graft.
High point of the occasion was the unveiling of the project logo
and website by the EFCC Chairman.
The event which is an EFCC initiative featured children drawn from
schools in Abuja.
