Four policemen arrested, as another civilian is killed

Barely 24 hours after an unknown policeman killed a commercial bike rider and injuring a woman at the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, another civilian has been shot and killed again yesterday by a policeman.
The yet to be  identified  deceased  was again on Wednesday shot  dead in Ikorodu area of Lagos State as angry protesters , consisting mainly of commercial motorcyclists continued their protest over the killing of their colleague on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, a member of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the state government, opened fire on a commercial bike rider, killing him. The shooter also injured a woman.
Eye witness account claimed that the trigger happy cop, named as Haruna, was in the company of three of his colleagues and the four of them had gone to effect arrest of the bike rider for flouting traffic law when all hell broke loose.  Haruna was said to have opened fire on the bike rider later identified as one Lekan. A passer-by, Modikat Babatunde, was also hit by the bullet. The woman was shot on the hand.
The shooting and killing of Lekan and wounding of Babatunde, provoked some people, most of them commercial bike riders. They had gathered and embarked on a protest.
The angry protesters on Tuesday created serious commotion around Ikorodu.
There has however been shifting of blame between the protesters and the police on who killed one of the protesters, as the protest continued on Wednesday.
One person, simply identified as Kazeem, has been arrested by the police, while anti riot policemen and soldiers had been drafted to many parts of Ikorodu.
It was gathered that trouble started on Wednesday when an angry group of people stormed Sagamu Road Police Station and attempted to set it on fire.
The mob attempt to buy the police station was met with stiff resistance from a combined team of policemen from different police formations.

Eye witnesses claimed that there were heavy shootings. The bullets got one of the protesters, who instantly died.
A policeman was also attacked by the protesters and the violent protest spilled to Odongunyan and Ita Oluwo areas of Ikorodu.
Angry motorbike riders repeatedly regrouped even after being dispersed by policemen.
Meanwhile four policemen have been arrested in connection with the killing of the motorcyclist on Tuesday for allegedly plying the restricted route.
Police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the death of one person on Wednesday but denied that he was killed by a policeman.
She explained that the deceased was killed by one of the armed protesters, who tried to attack a police station.
