police kill one, injure another in Lagos

A mobile police officer on Saturday shot and kill a young man at the Ajah area of Lagos State and injured another who is currently fighting to stay alive at an undisclosed hospital.
The deceased person , named  Gboko, was until the incident, a member of thugs  of  the Ajah Boys group in the land  crisis which for long had been  rocking Ajah.
The yet to be  identified mobile  policeman is said to be  a member of the  Anti-Riot Team , drafted to Ilaje area ofAjah to douse the tension of an impending clash between rival hoodlums from Ajah and Ilaje.
It was gathered that Gboko  and the injured victim.  confronted and insulted   a team of mobile  policemen, when one of them opened  fire
on the youths , killing one instantly and inflicting bullet wound on the other.
An eye witness said   that trouble  started, after some hoodlums from the Ilaje group abducted a member of their rival group in Ilaje .
The eye witness added  that the news of the abduction got to his colleagues , who mobilized and attempted to rescue him from the Ilaje
Boys.
Mobile policemen were quickly  drafted to the scene which was getting volatile.
The Ajah Boys were said to have  attempted to attack the policemen, accusing them of supporting the Ilaje Boys in  attacking  them. Other
insults were said to have been hurled on the policemen. They were alleged to have attempted to take possession of one of the policemen rifles.
One of the  policemen in an attempt to  disperse the angry Ajah youths,  shot sporadically into the air and then  into the  midst of the youths, hitting Gboko , who died instantly and an unidentified
person was  also injured.
The Ajah youths , fearing for their lives scampered for safety. The body of Gboko was later carried away by policemen.
Some of the youths were said to have been arrested and presently in police custody.
