The Gombe Police Command has arrested
no fewer than 32 suspects for commission of various crimes in the state.
Public Relations Officer, Mr Fwaje Atajiri, revealed
the successful feat achieved by the command recently.
Atajiri said that 27 of the suspects were
nabbed for allegedly terrorising innocent citizens and dispossessing them of
mobile phones, jewellery and other valuables.
The spokesman said the police raided the
suspects in Gombe town before shifting to the suburbs.
He said they were arrested in Kagarawal,
Malam Inna, Alkahira, Libya Quarters, Nayi Nawa and bye-pass, where swords,
machetes, shovels and other dangerous weapons were recovered from them.
According to him, three other suspects were
arrested in Nasarawo Hayi, after they snatched a bag from a lady, who raised an
alarm before the police came and apprehended them.
Atajiri further said that two other persons
were arrested for alleged animal rustling, adding that three cows, five sheep
and four goats were recovered from the suspects.
He said that already the stolen cows had been
released to their owners after identification by their owners.
The spokesman, however, called on the
inhabitants of the state to always provide useful information to the police to
reduce crime.
