Robbery kingpin lands in hospital after duel with police


*as police arrest nine members

Leader of a robbery which has been terrorizing residents of Okokomaiko and other areas of Lagos State, have become a guest at the hospital, after a gun battle with policemen.
The leader of the gang, Sanni Mohammed was discovered to have sustained bullet wounds after the smoke from the police and robbers guns had settled. Six of his men were arrested, while he was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Items recovered from the hoodlums are one double barrel with 10 expended cartridges and some weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.
Police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, said that the bandits, numbering about nine, were arrested from different parts of the state.
According to Braide, the first sets of robbers were arrested on August, 10, 2013 by Policemen attached to Okokomaiko Division.
A team of anti-robbery policemen responded to a distress call at F.O.A primary school, along Mile 2-Badagry road, that a gang of robbers were operating.
As the policemen approached, the robbers were said to have sighted them and immediately opened fire.
Six of the robbers, namely; Rafiu Abdulahi, Sunday Abiodun, Musa Audu, Yusuf Mustapha, and Igamoye Ikechukwu all of no fixed address were arrested.
The second set of suspects were arrested on August, 11, 2013by policemen attached to Abattoir Division. They too had responded to distress call at Shina Peter road, Fagba and arrested one Fagbohun Olaoluwa of No. 25 Adesunde Street, Agbado, Ogun State. The police recovered two locally made pistols and one live cartridge from Olaoluwa. The case is also under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba.

Similarly on August, 11, 2013, two armed robbers, Ibrahim Ramon and Usman Mustapha were almost lynched alive by angry mob.
The mob was said to have inflicted injuries on them at No. 10 Wosilat Aina Street, Orile.
The suspects, with others at large had robbed residents of their cash and other valuables at the aforementioned address.
The hoodlums have been admitted in a nearby Hospital for medical attention due to the severity of the injuries.
