BARELY a week after some unknown gunmen attacked and destroyed some part of the Giade Divisional Police Station, freeing detainees in the process, some other unknown gunmen early Monday morning stormed Soro in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State and killed a policeman and his son.
The Nigerian Tribune gathered that the attackers invaded Soro Divisional Police Station at about 1a.m., where they shot a police corporal and freed four suspects in police detention, two cattle rustlers and two armed robbery suspects, before burning down the station.
Sources informed that after destroying the police station, the gunmen stormed the residence of the deceased policeman, where they killed him and his son.
The deceased, the Nigerian Tribune  gathered, was serving in Gombe but had his family staying in Soro. He was said to have been on a visit to his family as of the time he met his untimely death.
Confirming the attack to journalists in Bauchi, the state police command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Haruna Mohammed, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), stated that a corporal was also shot in the leg by the attackers.
He, however, informed that the police had arrested three suspects in connection with the attack, while further investigations were ongoing.
