The Lagos State Police Command has
arrested six suspected robbers from various areas of the metropolis. The police
also recovered guns and live cartridges from the suspects, while inflicting
bullet wounds on those who fled during gun battle.
According to the police
spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, two among the suspects were arrested by policemen
attached to Lion Building Division.
She revealed that on February 7, 2014,
policemen attached to Lion Building Division while acting on a tip-off, arrested two armed robbers who had been
terrorizing Lagos Island at the Balogun Street Lagos Island.
One have been identified as Mukaila
Kosoko aka Okiki, of no fixed address and one Rasheed Kosoko of No.73, Oshodi
Street, Lagos Island.
One locally made single barrel gun
with one cartridge was recovered from them.
She further said: “On February 7, 2014
at about 2:30am, a policeman attached to Mopol 22 Ikeja, while on duty at
Access Bank Ikorodu, arrested one Demola Ajigbade of 41 Road ‘F’ Close House 2
Festac Town with a toy pistol in front of GTBank Lagos Road Ikorodu.
The suspect attempted to rob one
Charles Akpati of Fakoyabe Street,
Igbogbo Road, Ikorodu of his money at the aforesaid street.”
According to her, also on the same
day, police patrol teams from Shomolu, Alade and Onipanu Divisions while
responding to a distress call at Awofeso Street, Pedro area had an encounter
with armed robbers.
At the end of the fierce battle,
three suspects were arrested while others escaped with bullets wounds.
Double barrel shot guns with two
live cartridges were recovered from the robbers.
Braide said that all the cases would
be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Departments (SCID) Yaba, for
further investigation.
