The
Inspector General of the Nigeria Police Force,(IGP), Muhammed Abubakar on Friday insisted that the
Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Mbu was redeployed according to
police posting, stressing the move had no political undertone.
This
denial was supported by the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Sir
Mike Okiro.
Both men made this denial at the passing out parade of some retired policemen, held at the Police College, Ikeja, Lagos State.

According
to Abubakar and Okiro, the force was posed towards training and retraining of its
officers in readiness for the forthcoming general elections.
The number one policeman also denied that the
Rivers State Police boss was re deployed as a result of the crisis in the state.
The IGP described Mbu' s redeployment to Abuja as a routine police activity ,
which are aimed at strategizing and repositioning the force.Abubakar said that the passing out parade was an honour to police officers, who had dedicated a long years of service to the force.
Okiro added: “ Mbu was not redeployed as a result of any political crisis in Rivers. Mbu was also not redeployed to Abuja as a result of any petition received by to the police service commission.”
