Police shoot seven-year-old girl

Some overzealous policemen on Friday night shot a seven-year-old girl at Landipo, Mushin area of Lagos State.
The incident was said to have occurred when the policemen, from Area D Police Command, went to arrest people alleged to be Indian hemp smokers.
Some of the suspects had resisted arrested and the policemen had promptly opened fire.
One of the bullets hit the little girl, later identified as Abiodun.
The incident, which occurred at about 8pm, attracted the attention and ire of the residents, who attempted to attack the policemen. The police quickly called for backup.
Some of the policemen, who raced to the scene in response to the call for backup, were policemen from SARS Ikeja.
The hysterical father of the wounded had vowed to get even with the trigger happy cop if his little eventually dies from the bullet wound.
Little Abiodun was said to have been rushed to hospital, where is presently battling to stay live. Even as residents prayed for her to survive, many of them still worried she might not pull through, stressing that she had already lost a lot of blood.
 As at press time, policemen are still at the scene, to ensure there  no further break down of law and order.
