A former
member of the Oodua Peoples’ Congress (OPC), Mr Ishola Jamiu, has told
the police in Lagos that he got two guns from the association.
Jamiu was arrested by the Special Anti- Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja,
for being involved in robbery after the two guns were traced to him.
He said: “I joined OPC when I came to Lagos. That was where I got the two guns. I was also doing security work.
They gave me the two guns while serving there. “But I left OPC in
2009 and afterward left Lagos for Ogun State. But they bought the guns
for me while I was keeping watch at two petrol stations at Iyana-Ipaja,
Lagos.
“Some robbery suspects linked me with their operations. They said
that I gave them guns. I was arrested last Saturday. “I am a commercial
driver; I was plying the Agbara-Seme route.
I was arrested in my house in Atan, Ogun State. But I did not rob as claimed by the police; I only held the guns with me.”
