Use recovered loot to resuscitate economy, Fasehun urges Buhari

Founder of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Dr. Frederick Fasehun, has urged President Muhammadu Burhari, to use the money, which the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recovered from alleged economic saboteurs, to revamp the Nigerian economy.

Speaking with New Telegraph at Okota, Lagos State, Fasehun said that the whooping sum of money, recovered by the EFCC, was enough to resuscitate the dying economy of Nigeria.
Asked if he wasn’t happy with the ongoing anti-corruption war, Fasehun said: “Anti-corruption war or deceit? What about those arrested? Where is the money recovered? Nigeria debt is frightening. We have foreign and local debts and both are frightening. The EFCC recovered a lot of money, from those that were supposed to have looted the treasury, but where is the money? Good governance means for the administration to act and let the citizens know what is going on.”
Decrying the change mantra, Fasehun said that he sees no way forward in Nigeria. According to him, people were dying every day of hunger, stressing that Nigerians were too timid to react to the trying hardship in the country.
His words: “We were told change would come. What is happening in Nigeria today is the change. Nigerians are too afraid to speak out.  Speaking out is not a crime. Today, those things that we had for cheap have now disappeared. We don’t know when those things would return. The first 100 days of this administration was nothing significant. The president has now spent a year and three months in office and we’re still waiting for white paper on their first 100 days in office.”
He said it was sad that those in power, never listens or take advice.
He added: “We thank God that our president has stopped travelling for now. When he travelled to 22 countries in 24 months, I complained. I said Mr. President should stop travelling and govern this country. Speaking or advising those in power is like speaking to the deaf. Do they take suggestions? Once you’ve been marked as a critic, nobody listens to you. Nigerian government misunderstands critics. Critics are essentials and should be seen as best friends of government.”
