We killed Oyo lawmaker during robbery –Suspect

A suspected robber, Ayobami Adedeji (23), yesterday told journalists that the death of a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Gideon Aremu, was not politically-motivated.

Adedeji said that he and three other suspects arrested in connection with the lawmaker’s death only went to Adegbayi area to rob when they saw the legislator and decided to rob him.
The suspect said that he and some others, now at large, Abbey, Kola Mission and Yusuf Ikire, left Beere area and went out to rob some households at Adegbayi area of Ibadan where the deceased was residing.
The principal suspect, Adedeji, who hails from Gbongan town in Osun State, said they had no any prior knowledge of the identity of the lawmaker. He said: “We just left Beere area to go and carry out our usual operation and upon sighting the honourable, we attacked him and one of us, Abbey, had to shoot when the lawmaker flashed a torch at us in order to identify us.”
Adedeji spoke at the state Police Command Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, where he and three others were paraded by the Police Commissioner, Leye Oyebade. The suspect, however, added that Abbey’s mother had a house near the area of attack.
He said: “We were not sent by anybody to go and kill him. We were only there to rob him but to my surprise he was killed by my friend, Abbey, who invited us for the job and the rest are now at large. I was the only one arrested for the crime.
I will assist the police with the necessary information on our hide out so it could be easier for them to make arrest of the rest of my friends in crime.” But according to the police, the other suspects linked to the murder and paraded yesterday are Adeniran Oladapo (31), Kareem Isiaka (43) and Sodiq Adedeji (20).https://newtelegraphonline.com/killed-oyo-lawmaker-robbery-suspect/
