Immigration to repatriate 29 Nigeriens

Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) said it had concluded arrangement to repatriate 29 illegal immigrants to Niger Republic. 

The NIS Comptroller, Lagos State Command, Mrs. Clara Okojie, said those being repatriated were discovered to be without any travel document required by Nigerian law and Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) protocol.
To ensure that those repatriated go back to their country, Okojie delegated two Deputy Comptrollers of Immigration (DCIs), Ahmed Hamzat and Saleh Abdullahi, to supervise the repatriation.
Okojie advised residents in Lagos not to harbour illegal immigrants in their homes, because it was against the law. She a team of immigration officers raided Lagos Island and its environs and arrested several persons, suspected to be illegal immigrants of Nigerien origin.
The state NIS Public Relations Officer (PRO), Deputy Superintendent of Immigration (DSI) Jide Ogungbe, said a thorough investigation of the suspects was conducted and after profiling, 29 of them were found to be without any travel document required by Nigerian law and ECOWAS protocol.
He said: “These 29 people are being repatriated to Niger Republic. The Lagos State Command will also like to use this opportunity to solicit the public cooperation in area of valued information on irregular or illegal migrants living in the neighbourhood and also to note that harbouring such ones is against the law.”https://newtelegraphonline.com/immigration-repatriate-29-nigeriens/
