A suspect, who allegedly specilaised in robbing trailer drivers and
kidnapping, has told policemen that he and his gang members wouldn’t
have been able to sell off their stolen items, if not for the assistance
of an Islamic cleric.
The suspect, Olarenwaju Gbadamosi, 33, is alleged
to be the leader of the gang. Gbadamosi was arrested along with Lukman
Akinola, 33, Dele Rotimi, 37, Taiwo Olabode, 38, Uche Anthony, 27, and
Taiwo Ayodele, 27.
He said that if not for the assistance of the Alfa, it wouldn’t have
been easy selling stolen items. He further said: “One of my friends
invited me to Ibadan. He said he wanted us to think of the type of
business we could do. We decided to start hijacking loaded trailers. We
usually hide around portions of road with potholes. We know that
definitely, trailer drivers would slow down on those areas. Once they
slow down, we come out and stopped them at gun point.
We sell the stolen items from such trailers to Alfa.” The police said
that Gbadamosi, with his partners in crime, were also into kidnapping.
The police alleged that the gang has carried out kidnapping in Ondo and
other states. The gang was arrested by policemen attached to Police
