A new
Permanent Secretary for the Police Service Commission, Mr. Musa Istifanus
formally resumed office today, Wednesday, August 10th 2016.
Speaking at the handover ceremonies held at
the Commission’s office in Abuja, the new Permanent Secretary promised to
ensure that the Commission will work with the Nigeria Police Force to reduce
crime in the society.
Mr. Musa
noted that it should be the concern of every Staff of the Commission that
Nigeria is safe and that the crime rate in the country is drastically reduced,
adding that henceforth, “the story here should be to reduce crime in the
society because that is the bigger picture of our responsibility as a
Commission”
According to
him, “ We must make the society safe and this should be of concern to all of us
here.”
He also said
there was need for the Commission to look at performance in the promotion of
Police Officers to ensure efficiency in the system.
Earlier, the
Director of Administration and Finance who was the acting Secretary to the
Commission, Mr. Emmanuel Ibe, had briefed the new Permanent Secretary on the
workings of the Commission and pledged the loyalty, support and cooperation of
the Staff.
Mr. Ibe
welcomed him to the Commission and enjoined him to critically look at the
issues of discipline, funding and the Commission’s uncompleted corporate
headquarters.
The new
Permanent Secretary had met with the Chairman and Members of the Commission on
Tuesday, 9th August, 2016.
Before his redeployment, he was the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of
Solid Minerals Development.
