Father beats daughter, 5, with hot iron

A 45-year-old man, Mr. Surakat Idowu, has been arrested by the police in Lagos for allegedly torturing his five-year-old daughter with hot pressing iron.

The incident occurred at number 8, Kayode Koyejo Street, Liasu Road, Ikotun on the outskirts of Lagos. Idowu reportedly beat the girl, Monsurat, with hot iron thereby inflicting serious injuries on her face, head and other parts of her body. The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the story.
According to her, the suspect works as a roadside mechanic. She said: “He is currently being held by the command for the offence of child abuse.
