The National Chairman, Police Community Relations Committee, DR. Maiyama Faruk and his national executives held their 2016 quarterly meeting on the 3rd November, 2016 at the Force Headquarter Abuja.
Meanwhile
at the meeting, the Inspector General of Police, who was ably represented by
the Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police DCP Don N
Awunah Fsi, welcome the PCRC members and told them that the IGP recognises the
significance of PCRC to the Force in area of community policing and other
relevant areas. He urged them to always see themselves as a critical
stakeholders in crime prevention and management, and to always work within the ambit
of the law.
In his remarks, the chairman PCRC Dr, Maiyama
Faruk, thanked the IGP and assured him of their total support to the Force. He
expressed worry over the current crisis rocking the country, most especially at
the tertiary institutions. He further stated, that the primary responsibility
of PCRC is to provide support and assistance to the Police and others security
agencies to help in prevention, prosecution and fight against crime at all
levels.
In the same vein, he talked about the
plan to establish Operation Campus Security and neighbourhood security which he
maintained are essentially to fight crime, educate, sensitize, and enlighten
youths to desist from anti-social behaviours. The Chairman of PCRC sought the
approval of the IGP to register with Cooperate Affairs Commission, C.AC. in order
to have unified and well structure association in case of partnering with NGO’s.
