Police recover 1060 ammunition, 25 magazines in apartment


The Lagos State Police Command has recovered 1060 rounds of live ammunition, 25 magazines and other weapon from a single apartment located at 5th avenue, Festac, Lagos State.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Dolapo Badmos, said that the recovery was made upon intelligence gathering.
She said: “We have discovered some arms and ammunitions in an apartment on 5th avenue, Festac. The live ammunitions, totalling 1060 rounds, were recovered from the apartment. Other exhibits recovered include two AK 47 rifles, 24 magazines of AK47, 1 magazine of brownie pistol, with some face masks and assorted charms.”
According to her, the arms and ammunitions recovered were piled up in readiness for robbery operations.
She further said: “Reliable intelligence gathering and quick response of the operatives of the command averted the course and foiled the operations.”
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, stated that the command would continue to be on the trail of criminals within the state. He noted that the police wouldn’t give room to criminals to carry out their nefarious activities, especially during this festive period.
Owoseni said that the suspects apprehended in connection with the case, are still undergoing interrogation to ascertain their culpability.
