The Niger State Police Command has arrested a five-man-gang of robbers, for breaking and entering and also for allegedly terrorising residents of Minna.
The leader of the gang, Lawal Musa
23, and his gang members were alleged to be part of those terrorising Angwan
Biri Bosso, in Bosso Local Government Area of the state.
According to the police, the gang
was trailed and arrested for breaking into the house of Ahmed Ibrahim, living
behind NNPC Mega Station. On the fateful day of the incident, the suspects
carted away a plasma Television, laptop and two handsets belonging to Ibrahim.
Other members of the gang are Audu
Duku 22, Ali Mohammed 17, Mubarak Isyaku 18 and Sirajo Mohammed, 21.
When questioned about the stolen
items, one of the suspects Duku, admitted they sold the Plasma Television and
Laptop to Sirajo Mohammed for N20,000 and N25,000 respectively.
The Police Public Relations Officer
(PPRO), Abigail Unaeze, told journalists that the suspects were arrested by a
team of policemen on patrol. Unaeze said that the command had declared war on
criminals in the state.
He further said: “We shall soon
arrest all the suspects. They will face the wrath of the law. It is police
responsibility to protect lives and property. We shall not allow criminals to
take over the state.”
