About
20 suspected robbers have been arrested by policemen from different
divisions at the Ajegunle area of Lagos State, after a resident was
robbed and shot dead.
The deceased, identified as Richard Ebegbune, from Delta State, was killed at Omoniyi Street, on Sunday. Ebegbune was said to have left his house at Adedayo Street, to visit his friends at Omoniyi Street when he was killed
. A resident said that the bandits, who were many, wore face masks, adding that many people were injured in the robbery operation.
A witness, who gave his name as Dele, residing at Market Street, said that the robbers pointed guns at him and dispossessed him of his two phones and the N5,500 he had on him.
Dele, who claimed that the robbers were over 100, said they dispossessed many people of their money, mobile phones and other valuables in some streets in the area.
He said: “They looted shops as people abandoned their goods and took to their heels. I must commend the police who came and chased them away. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Amukoko, Superintendent of Police (SP) Nosiru, risked his life as he chased the hoodlums.”
