A middle-aged man has lost his life while trying to rescue his tricycle from flood in Ehinga-Itire, Surulere, Lagos.
The man, who resided at Isiba area of Otun-Oba in Itire, had gone out during the rain to move his tricycle popularly called Keke-Marwa from being submerged by flood to a safer place at his street. But the man, whose identity was not known at press time, was swept away by the flood which accompanied the rain of Wednesday night stoke Thursday morning.
It was too late for any rescue to reach him by the time the neighbours got wind of the incident. They embarked on search of the periphery of the canal which runs from Idi-Araba through Mushin and connects the Apapa – Oshodi Expressway.
But the search party discovered the man’s body in the canal close to Iyana-Itire on the Apapa – Oshodi Expressway. A resident of the area, who preferred anonymity, told NT Metro that: “the man you see lying over there was removed from the canal.
They have been looking for him since last night during that heavy rain. He was trying to remove his Keke Marwa from being swept away.
