CP’s orderly, two others killed in road accident

Three people were killed on Sunday and another two seriously injured after an automobile accident at Ogere, along the Lagos/Ibadan expressway.
Two of the men were members of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, Lagos Command, while the third victim was the driver (civilian) of the vehicle.
There were actually four policemen in the vehicle. Two died instantly and other two seriously injured.
The dead policemen have been identified as Sergeant Nuhurudeen Mohammed and Inspector Evbunwan Aigbokhai aka Man of God.
The injured are ASP. Cyril Ugweze and Corporal Ambrose Kasari.

Mohammed, who is said to be the orderly of the Lagos State Commissioner, Umar Manko, was described by some of his colleagues, as having a relationship as close as that of a father and son with Manko. They said Manko would feel the death of Mohammed the most.
Mohammed was yesterday interred at the Agege Cemetery, according to Islamic rites.
The accident, which occurred on Sunday, at about 3pm, happened at Ogere, after one of the tyres of the car the SARS team was travelling in, ruptured, forcing the vehicle to somersault several times.
The civilian driving the car and two SARS cops died instantly on the spot, while two other policemen were severely injured and are presently battling to stay alive in a hospital in Ibadan.
Ironically, the suspect the team went to arrest did not sustain any injury.
The team was said to have travelled down to Kano to arrest a suspect, who diverted goods belonging to Dangote Company. They were returning from Kano, along with the suspect when the accident occurred.
A police source said: “The team went to Kano State on investigation. The investigation has to do with diversion of bags of cement belonging to Dangote Company.  Dangote Company provided the car which took the team to Kano. It was that car that had accident as they were returning to Lagos.
“The case has to do with diversion of bags of cement. The team arrested the suspect and was returning when the tyre of the car ruptured at Ogere, leading to the car somersaulting several times. Two of our men died instantly, along with the civilian driver who works with Dangote Company. The other two are in critical condition. But surprisingly, the suspect did not sustain any injury.”
It was gathered that on Sunday, the command was plunged into mourning, following the tragedy. A team of 12 policemen, in ambulance, immediately left for Ibadan to pick their dead and stay with their wounded.
