One of the parents of the six students of the Lagos
State Model College, Igbonla, Epe, who were 53 days ago, yesterday broke down
and wept over the continual captivity of their children.
According to him, “we have done everything they
asked to do. We have paid more money. They promised to release our children in
two days’ time; after two days, they are now demanding for more money. We don’t
know what else to do. We have nothing anymore. We are empty. We don’t know what
they want from us anymore.”
He disclosed that the money they have paid so far,
is N31, stressing that the kidnappers were still asking for more.
It will be recalled that the kidnappers had earlier
demanded for N50m, insisting that the Lagos State Government should pay the
money. The Lagos State Government however refused, seeing such payment of
ransom as encouragement to kidnappers to continue in their nefarious
activities.
Yesterday, our correspondent also gathered the new
management has refused to embark on the usual graduation party most schools are
known for.
According to the school, there was no way they could
embark on such a party, when everyone was worried about the condition and
welfare of the six abducted children school.
Last week, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police
and other concerned Nigerians, pleaded with the kidnappers to release the
school children.
