EFCC Docks Man for N1.079m Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, arraigned one Sunny Idehen before Justice O. H. Oshodi of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja on a three-count charge of stealing and diversion of funds to the tune of 1,079,000 (One Million, Seventy-nine Thousand Naira).
Idehen allegedly converted the money belonging to PAL-JUF Investment Company Limited to his personal use.
One of the counts reads:
"Sunny Idehen whilst being the Account Officer of PAL-JUF Investment Limited in Equity Bank (now Access Bank) on or about the 15th day of July 2002 in Lagos within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, stole and fraudulently converted the sum of N500, 000 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira) from PAL-JUF Investment Limited Account Number 0160362634001 domiciled in Equity Bank (now Access Bank) property of PAL-JUF Investment Limited ".
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him.
In view of his plea, prosecuting counsel, Zainab Ettu, asked the court to fix a date for trial and prayed that the defendant be reminded in prison custody.
The defence counsel, O. Ogunlade, told the court that he had not filed any bail application before the court and prayed for a short for him to do so.
Justice Oshodi ordered the defendant to be reminded in Kirikiri Maximum Prison, Apapa, Lagos and adjourned to October 31, 2017 for commencement of trial.
