IG behind successful achievements – Retired DIG

Retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), Mr Joel Azubuko Udah, has praised the Inspector-Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris; on the recent arrest of the Nigerian suspected billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike aka Evans.

According to Udah, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) wouldn’t have achieved this present feat, if not for the operational background and hard work of Idris.
Udah noted that Idris’ operational background has led to clamp down on criminals, recovering of cache of arms and ammunition.
Aside from Udah, another security expert, Mr Jide Thomas, has also lauded the activities of Idris and his policemen.
Udah said: “Idris’ sterling performances in Kano and Nasarrawa states, where he was a state commissioner of police added to his wealth of experiences. His previous engagement in the Police Mobile Force (PMF), and the operation department of the police for several years gave him the added advantage to be a performer either as CP Kano, Nasarrawa and now as IGP.”
Udah said that but for Idris as CP Kano, Boko Haram members would have overwhelmed the state. He noted that Idris’ ideas and his modus operandi, helped in the check of activities of Fulani herdsmen in Nasarawa State.

Udah said that the quick thinking of Idris led to creation of crack squads, led by senior policemen like Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Abba Kyari and Ibrahim Abu, who had arrested armed robbers and notorious criminals like Vampire and suspected kidnapper like Evans.

Udah urged Nigerians to cooperate with Idris by giving useful information to the police.

Thomas, on the other hand said that the establishment of Eminent Persons Forum (EPF), which he said consists of professionals and well-meaning citizens by Idris, had further helped to check violent crime in different communities.

Thomas said: “The EPF has led to the arrests of notorious criminals in the past six months. I authoritatively learnt that the arrest of the officials of the Independent National Election Commission (INEC), in Port Harcourt; River State, in connection with the last December election in the state, was done successfully through a tip-off by a member of the EPF.”
The security expert revealed that one of the reasons the IGP has performed well in the past one year was because he placed competent officers in the right places.

He commended the IGP for making Federal Highways safer for Nigerians. He specifically mentioned the Lagos-Abuja road, the Kaduna-Jebba road and the Lagos-Benin-Onitsha road as highways where the IGP has in the past one year, fortified the security.
