Another UNIOSUN final year student goes missing



Panic has gripped students and management of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) following disappearance of another 400 Level student in the school.

The latest victim is Oluwafemi Oluwatimilehin Shonibare, a 400 Level student of Microbiology Department of UNIOSUN. The disappearance of Shonibare has caused uproar in the campus.

The disappearance of Shonibare occurred barely nine months after two 400 Level students of the school, Osogbo campus disappeared.
Shonibare, whose whereabouts is still unknown, was said to have left his hostel in the dead of the night and disappeared.

One of the students, identified as Ademola, said that Shonibare’s disappearance was mysterious. According to Ademola, Shonibare was cooking around 1.00 p.m. of the fateful day and walked out. Some students were said to have seen him going out, questioned him, but he allegedly refused to respond to them.
According to Ademola, "after several hours had passed, without his returning, several calls were put across to him to know his whereabouts, all to no avail.”

Ademola, who hinted that all necessary arrangement had been finalized by students of the university to embark on a rally to protest continuous missing of students in the cause, described the happening as unpleasant and called on security agencies and school authorities to address the situation to avert such occurrence in the future.

Sources at the state police commands said, a suspect, simply identified as Alfa, had been arrested in connection with Shonibare’s disappearance.

In his reaction, the Acting Registrar of the university, Gafar Shittu, confirmed the incident on the telephone.

He said that the police had already swung into action on the criminal act, stressing that the case had been transferred from Oke Baale to Criminal Investigation Department.

He further said: “The case is a mysterious one. The boy was seen until around 10:pm on Monday, but he has not been seen since then. But we learnt that the police have made one arrest in connection with that now."
