THE Delta State government is set to prosecute persons behind the abuse of children through homosexual acts in Warri.
The State Commissioner for Information, Chike Ogeah, who disclosed
this in Asaba, while briefing newsmen said the child right law would be
enforced in dealing with the culprits.
A high powered committee of the state government, while cleaning up
Warri, unearthed an area where minors were used as homosexuals, Ogeah
said, adding that the government would not blink its eyes and watch the
‘sodomising’ of minors all in the name of making money.
The commissioner also said that other places in Asaba, where similar evil acts take place would be investigated.
He explained that despite the 10-day cleaning up exercise, a lot of
illegal structures, refuse dumps, abandoned spoilt vehicles, etc abound
in the cities, adding that the governor had extended the exercise with
another 10 days.
He said other cities in the state including Asaba, Ughelli, Agbor, Sapele would be cleaned up.
According to him, the dualisation of section A of the Asaba-Ughelli
expressway suffered set back, due to improper costing of the contract
term, adding that government and the contractor ULO consult had
arrived at a viable cost.
