WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM ON AFRICA 2014: SECURITY UPDATE (DAY 2)


·          Security remains tight, No negative incident reported

The Nigeria Police and other security agencies have continued to maintain a very strong and positive presence within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja as the World Economic Forum on Africa, today, Thursday, 8th May, 2014, entered its second day.


Security patrols, both overt and covert, have remained high with Police Air-wing conducting aerial surveillance aimed at strengthening the general security and boosting the confidence of the conference participants and the citizenry. In the same vein, conventional Police Units, and personnel of the Special Forces comprising Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Units and Special Protection Units, backed by members of other security agencies, have remained on high alert, while embarking on strategic crime preventive operations.

While commending the FCT residents for their cooperation so far, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP MD Abubakar, CFR, NPM, mni, psc enjoined citizens to continue to support the law enforcement agencies in the arduous task of securing the nation.
