Lagos State Police Command has said that the woman who abducted a child in Ikorodu area of the metropolis is mentally challenged.
Police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide told newsmen yesterday that psychiatrists at the Federal Neo- Psychiatric Hospital, Lagos, confirmed that the woman, Rosemary Chukwu who abducted the seven-year-old primary pupil, Emmanuel Emeka and hid him inside a box, about two weeks ago is deranged.
When mob which apprehended the woman beat her black and blue, she alleged that the pastor of her church, Ernest Nwankwo sent her to kidnap a child for a fee of N2.5m.
Nwankwo had since debunked the story, suspecting that the suspect could be insane.
Braide presented the hospital report to buttress her point.
The doctors wrote that the suspect is suffering from 'paranoid schizophrenia -a major psychotic disorder and will benefit from bio-psychosocial treatments as soon as possible'.
The suspect was apprehended by people at the bus stop and she alleged that a man of God who owns a healing home in Ikorodu sent her to do that for a fee.
Mob attacked the pastor and worshipers in the church and damaged parts of the building.
Braide said the pastor reported self to the police and insisted the child kidnapper should be insane to involve him in such satanic act.
